Caring for Our Community—Inside and Out
At Schechter, every child’s well-being comes first. From our nurse’s office to our playgrounds, from our wellness policies to our security protocols, we’ve built systems that help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
We believe kids thrive when they’re known and cared for—so our approach to health and safety reflects just that: attention to detail, strong partnerships with families, and a commitment to protecting both the body and the spirit of our school.
Here’s a closer look behind the scenes:
⸻
Nurse’s Office
Each of our two campuses has a full-time, licensed nurse on site. Our nurses are trusted partners to parents, providing direct communication around student allergies, medications, and day-to-day care. Allergy lists are posted in classrooms and lunch spaces, so everyone stays informed and included.
School Physician
Schechter partners with a current parent who is also a practicing pediatrician. Serving as our volunteer school physician, they provide guidance on schoolwide health matters and help shape thoughtful policies with our team.
COVID-19 Protocols
We continue to follow the guidance of our Medical Advisory Committee and public health officials. Our goal: to keep our community healthy, informed, and confident in the steps we take together.
⸻
Food Policy
We keep our community healthy and inclusive at mealtime, too:
• Schechter is entirely nut-free
• Food from home must be dairy or pareve
• All food served at school is kosher, including optional hot lunch options available for purchase
Mealtimes are a chance to nourish kids and connect as a community—so we keep them safe, joyful, and inclusive.
Wellness & Community Safety
Students should feel safe not just physically—but emotionally and socially, too.
That’s why Schechter upholds a strict anti-bullying policy and fosters a culture where respect, empathy, and inclusion are part of daily life.
Our community includes and affirms students, families, and staff of all backgrounds, identities, and orientations. Everyone belongs—and everyone matters.

Campus Security
We partner with Omnium Security to ensure a calm, watchful presence throughout the day. Between four and five trained security guards are stationed across both campuses, each with access to camera systems and real-time monitoring.
Guards accompany students during outdoor time, monitor building access, and complete regular perimeter walks. All adults in our buildings wear visible ID badges, and visitors are always screened.
