Academic, emotional, and executive functioning support—from early childhood through Grade 8
Our approach
How we support students at every grade
From Pre-K through Grade 8, Schechter’s support team helps students access learning with confidence. Learning Specialists work with individuals and small groups, push into classrooms, and partner closely with teachers to ensure students stay on track and feel successful.
In Pre-K–5, support focuses on foundational skills in literacy, math, and executive functioning. In Grades 6–8, students have access to the Learning Center for tailored academic and organizational help.
Every student receiving direct instruction or accommodations has a personalized Learning Plan. Each plan includes a dedicated Liaison—your family’s main contact—who coordinates support and keeps everyone connected.
Support staff
Our Learning Specialists bring deep expertise from both public and private school settings, and are trained in a range of academic and executive functioning programs. Literacy interventions are available in both buildings, along with Hebrew Learning Specialists who support language development and remediation
Counseling
Counselors on both campuses help students navigate challenges, build coping skills, and grow socially and emotionally. Through individual check-ins, small groups, and collaboration with teachers, our counseling team ensures students feel seen, supported, and resilient.
Related services
We partner with Gateways to provide on-campus occupational therapy, speech-language support, and behavioral consultation. Additional physical therapy can be arranged through outside providers.
Students with an IEP may be eligible for federally funded services. Gateways professionals also observe and consult when specific concerns arise—always in coordination with families and the admissions team.
